First Philly, when I hear that name I think determination and family. Whether it was in a synagogue or at this beautiful new building, we always felt like it was a huge family. The first day we started here September 8th, 2002. Everyone was new here kind of shy and timid. Then people started to come around I’m not sure if we made all of our friends that we still have today but I’m sure we made a lot. 2004 a new building a new start for most of us. This is the year we all started to make friends. Some old friends some new. Lots of memorable activities happened this year. Like the d.a.r.e. program (Drug abuse resistance education) and the take 5 nutrition a day program. All those activities were really fun, but it wasn’t till 5th grade where I had my greatest memory. 5th grade a time when we matured a lot! Our first year when we switched classes and our first big class trip. College Settlement Camp one of my favorite memories in First Philly. When we made most of our friends and just… really bonded with each other, all of the team builders we had to do. It was a time when we had to help each other and we still carry that ability to help each other today.
All the people that made this possible for us are the people that I thank for giving me the best school I could’ve possibly ended up in. Especially Mr.Santilli and Mrs.Clarke for making this all come together, and really making this a caring school community. As for Ms.Magargee and Mr.Knoecki I would like to say thank you from the center of my heart because without you I would have never learned the value of what it means to care for one another. Like Isabel Waxman said and I’m sure we can all relate “ It is indeed ironic that we spent most of our days waiting for graduation to come and yet, now we want nothing less then to stay.” Yes we’ve made so many friends over the years and it is hard to say goodbye but, we have to make new friends and eventually we’ll meet again some day.
I’m not sure what my future holds, actually I’m pretty sure no one knows but we will find out soon enough whether you’re a doctor a lawyer or a butler, we will always be able to say I went to school with that person, he/she was a good friend. Though we may not see all of the people we went to school with we will see a lot and like Orrin Hatch said “Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning.”

Memories
Whoa can't believe it so close to graduation but yet so far. My favorite memory from this school is our first big trip. College Settlement Camp, what a trip. When we made most of our friends we still talk to today. Some have come and gone some fond memories of them some sad, but we will never forget them, that's for sure. That trip really changed all of our lives and made us in to the people we are today. The team work we had to give. That is what teamwork and just caring for one another is all about. If you remember all of what happened there them it will be something you always remember for the rest of your life. The challenges we all received and the memories we all shared will be with us for the rest of our lives. The most memorable time was the challenge called The Wall. It was a 10 foot tall wall and we had to use a lot of teamwork for this.
The smallest people went first up the wall so people like me or Sandro. Followed by people like Sean or Joey wood followed by people like Ishmael and the last one up the wall was Thomas, and boy did he have a though time getting up the giant wall, but eventually he made it up and we completed the challenge. That is my most memorable memory.

Energy Drinks
Alright we all know the popular drinks like Rockstars Monsters and Red Bull. Yeah I know they taste good and give you energy we all love'em and like to drink them, but did you know they could be harming you health in more ways then one? I was reading the back of a Monster Energy drink can and something caught my eye guarana which is in a lot of energy drinks but something else caught my eye. Alcohol! I saw that on the back of the can and couldn't believe my eyes. Alcohol in energy drinks? A lot of people drink them and we drink them a lot to or at least I drink them a lot.
How could you put Alcohol in energy drinks?! I was kind of scared because parents don't know about this and kids are actually underage and drinking that is really low. You have to put alcohol in your drinks. That is why you feel kind of funny after you get done drinking what energy drink you have. Know don't get me wrong I drink them all the time and I will probably continue drinking them but to have the ingredients in such small letters that no one pays attention to that is just plain ignorant and wrong.

Live each day like your last.
Ya know I was thinking many people take life for granted and aren't greatful for the little things in life. I mean how many times have you actually walked down a street and stopped and just looked around at the magnificent world we live in and how far we have come. Skyscrapers Ipod touches, and all that woderful stuff but really have you ever just stopped to take it all in and just say, wow? Like people will be walking down the street millions of people pass you by each month and we all think nothing of it? I mean ya I do the same thing but the least we can do is just say hello and actually acknowledge the person for just one second for the individual they actually are.
Now no I'm not tryin to pull and hippie mumbo jumbo like (Love the earth hug trees.) No absouloutly not, that stuff is all kinda wierd, but next time you see someone just say hello and actually think about the world we live in.

Ms.CALIFORNIA controversy
Ok so I was watching the news at 11'O'clock and I saw something that interested me and is kinda always happening. The Miss California pageant was some time last week and a contestant in the pageant said something that judges say may have "Cost her the crown of Miss, CA." She said that "She is not a gay or lesbian basher, but the way she was brought up, marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman." Now I don't hate gay or lesbians but I kinda agree with her, I mean it does say in the bible that the sanctity of marriage is supposed to be between a man and a women. So I'd follow the bible and say that she is right. Now don't get me wrong some people do like the opposing sex but a lot of people don't and support the former miss CA, but a man named Perez Hilton doesn’t and is glad she got disqualified. Actually at an interview with the press Perez Hilton got his turn to speak and called the former miss CA the B-word and C-word and then apologized and walked out. He later made a public announcement that he was not sorry for using the words he used and took his apology back. What do you think? Is the former Miss CA right, or do you take sides with Perez Hilton?

Family Guy Again.
Ok on sunday night I was watching Family guy on fox now, yeah I like family guy and yeah it's funny but this topic was a little over the top even for adults. Brian the dog on family guy was caught doing pot. He was sentenced to a couple weeks in prison for drug charges. So I thought oh this episode might actually have a moral to it. How wrong was I to try to judge family guy. The family bailed Brian out nd he contiued to smoke the pot. Then he said pot had less of a risk of killing then alchohal. Right then I though this was gonna be a bad topic. This time I was right. The dog went to a park and put up a rally for pot. No one ws listen to him and stewie the baby said he needed more pizaz in his speech. So they went into a jaunty little tune about how they should legalize pot! Then of course people started dancing and the mayor of qhauog legalized pot this is the point when my parents turned this off.
I of course I kept watching. I thought this is a little over the top but not to much. So I kept watching. They gave out bags of pot to children, adults, and babies. Now is when I thought this is takin it a little to far but you know me so, I kept watching. Next thin g you know people are all smoking pot the news people the weather casters. Everybody, but then brian made a novel and someone convinced him to do a campain on to illegalize pot again and so he did and it happened but after it was done and over I thought to myself Ok that was to much. I admit sometimes I get laughs out of the show but this took it to far. So what do you think about it?
Keepin it real.

Miss use of laptops
Ok the laptops are cool sure we get the privilege of surfing the web instead of going to the library but when is it to much? Some people do this all the time going on gaming websites and not getting work done. Sure a lot of people do this and are for it but some are against it and want it to stop. I for one don't care because people that get their work done are the ones being taught and others are letting their brains rot. (They will say Te he I like tator tots.) So what do you think do you care or do you choose not to?

Reality T.V.
Reality T.V. some people hate it some people can't live without it, but when is it to much? Ok the show on fox think it's called tell the truth. You get hooked up do a lie detector and are forced to tell the truth to win cash. Now is that just harmless game show fun or is it actually hurting people? I think that it is actually hurting people. People will do anything for money even if it includes hurting them selves. There is anew reality show on fox where they're actually screwing with people's job in this recession. They go into a building and make the manager fire the employee and then give the employee money for it. So what do you think about these shows?

Texting in school
Ok this might be a worn out topic, but I see a lot of people doing it even the staff! Kids texting in school is a major problem. Some people do it right in front of the teachers face but they're very sneaky about it and it kinda gets on my nerves. I mean sure it's fun but do you really want to take the risk of having your phone taken away? I don't, that's why I leave mine at home. I like my phone where I can use it not abuse it. So what do you guys think about texting in school? Does it help or does it come at a price?

Ballet :(
Ok today we saw a ballet thing and it was horrible! I practically fell aslep while watching it. I mean this made HIgh school musical look good! The guys were wearing tights and the girls were not so good either! Seriously it was really boring. No offenese but I hated it. I wanted to get out of there! We actually saw two parts of it. One part they were streching and the other part they were actually preforming. Don't get me wrong ballet does mean a lot to some people like kydaire said in his comment and some people do it just to relax but everyone has their own opinion. I just don't think it was fair to the people that didn't want to see ballet were forced to see it. So I wanted to know what you guys thought of it. I will put a poll up and you can comment on this as well.

TV
Ok shows like family guy and the simpsons and two and a half men and Jacka** are all fun to watch but do some kids take it to far? People take the show to far and are starting to say some "bad things" like race things and are starting to do stupid stunts and are getting injured from it. Just like what happened right by this school. A boy was riding his bike and some guys who saw this on Jacka** and did a driveby... paintball shooting and unfortunatly the boy lost his eye because of it. If these guys weren't so stupid the boy could've got a sports scholarship. He was the star pitcher for lincoln high school. That is just one of the examples of how people can be stupid and act out stunts. Some people have gotten seriously injured and almost lost their live because of what they done or said. So all i'm sayin is don't be stupid and act out something stupid just to get "popular"

Teachers being lenient :)
Ok teachers in this school let us get away with murder and try to be lenient... MAYBE to lenient. People are starting to get away with more and more stuff like one of my friends constantly pat patting people not to call anyone out but Mr. Crain always lets him get away with it. Some kids are tired of getting hurt and are starting too got to the dean of students with complaints. Now don't get me wrong I used to pat people everyday and I thought it was SO funny until unfortunately I got detention for it. Stupid choices are a big part of school you make one and get in trouble for it but, you learn from it. Just like me I was the one who put bologna on an aids shoulder and guess what happened suspension. I learned from it though and have learned to make wiser decisions. All I'm saying is, are teachers and aids being a little to lenient with us?

Crime in Philly
The crime is Philly is at an all time high and the murder rate is one of the worst in the U.S. Most of them are cops! The criminals are not afraid anymore and are shooting anything that gets in their way. About 4 cops died last year, and this year 2 cops have already been shot and killed. The new story is about a boy who was riding his bike and a bunch or jerks who thought it would be SO funny to do drive by paintball shootings and because of that a boy lost his eye and the jerks that did the crime are hiding and not taking responsibility to it. The fact is Philadelphia used to be the city of brotherly love now it is the city of duck and run.

Spring Break
Ok the spring break got cut short this year partially because we went back late, but that's not our fault the new building wasn't done and we couldn't come back so I think it's unfair. On the other hand we did get a month more of summer so that was good but now we don't have intersession or Wed. early dissmisal. I mean for easter and spring break we get 4 days off and then we go back. Like what if your going to visit a realative for easter and have to cut your trip short I don't think it's fair. We also get out later too this year! Lat year we got out the 10th or 11th of june this year we get out the 12th not such of big deal but if your not an 8th grader then you get out the 19th of june. So do you think we should get our intersessions back or not?

Technology in school
Technology is a big thing in school for kids our age. Everyday a kid gets there Ipod or cell taken away by a teacher. Then the kid gets mad and gets in more trouble. The teacher will either write them up or just send them down to Mr. Knoecki. I admit the teachers are lenient in our school but we still need to be weary. The cells should be set off or on vibrate and only take an Ipod out in class to listen on the computer. I for one think we should be able to have I pod's out if we finish our work, but we can't do that. The teachers think that it will distract us. So if we have them out we get them taken away. Cell or Ipod it doesn't matter it will be taken away. I want to know what you think. Are you for or against the idea?
